Who doesn’t want a house by the sea, especially when it’s in the south west of France? Our long-term London clients had been keeping a lookout for an empty plot that they could renovate. This site in a conservation area right by the sea was crying out for some tender loving care. Having busy London lives, the clients appointed us to act on their behalf in recruiting a reliable build team, and overseeing the whole project from dream to delight.
What we did and the outcome
Working on-site, we recruited and oversaw the construction team, using our extensive knowledge of the regional area and local business practices. From foundation to roof, the project involved numerous site visits to ensure progress was running on time and to budget. Having the advantage of being native speakers was particularly useful when it came to sourcing specific design elements and managing financial matters.
Floors leveled and raised, façade, walls and roof built, shutters neatly fitted – this house was a construction and design project from bottom to top. Within the freshly painted walls of the four-storey villa are a cool series of wood-floored, window-shuttered rooms. Dotted with bespoke light fittings, ocean-toned furniture and sleek modern touches, most rooms have stunning sea views at the front and garden views to the rear. Now the family have their summer dream home, all that’s left to do is work out a schedule of seaside visits from London to France…
