The Brief
Our clients, a family of four, wanted to inject some much-needed character into their newly-acquired house. At just three years old the building had an achromatic, anonymous scheme devoid of personality and life. Although the existing layout was entirely suitable space-wise, for the occupants (two adults and two children), storage alterations, furniture, soft furnishing, colour schemes, wall finishes and lighting would be required to inject personality and to construct a comfortable space for the family’s busy lifestyle in this large home.
What we did and the outcome
Having a blank canvas is one of the most exciting aspects of a new renovation. In order to produce a dynamic and creative family home full of personality, we maximised our creative talents, bringing in opulent materials and bespoke creative built-in solutions. Across the house we used our style expertise to address the family’s culture, wish list, creating or sourcing a range of stunning furniture, soft furnishing, fixtures and fittings.
The family love their reinvented, fully functional, stylish living space. From bespoke lighting features and electronic Lutron blinds throughout to cosy touches, the house is now a home that’s ideal for relaxing, working or socialising. In the dining room, a soft velvety bespoke rug, specialist metallic silk grass cloth wallpaper, a large Italian dining table with smoked mirrored top and 8 bespoke luxurious velvet chairs give an elegant feel. The couples’ bedroom has a full-wall padded headboard with built-in reading lights, a floating bed base, pendant lights designed to rest exactly on the bedside tables, a heavy black-out curtain with a geometric metallic embroidery fitted on an automatic track, all thought-out to create a hotel room feel. Our creative expertise came to the fore in several unique design touches, like bespoke walls and built-in units in the home office and living room. Designed with upholstered panels for acoustic comfort, the bespoke TV wall in the cinema room brings elegance and luxury to the room as well as useful storage. The screen is now the focal point of the space, adding vital personality, while the room’s large bespoke velvety teal sofas, coffee table and rug give it comfort and cosiness. With home automation fitted throughout, this house has now graduated from stopover to showstopper.
